The Eternal Man Woman and Child My view on the human place in the universe is that we are not seperate from the universe that surrounds us. We are interwoven physically, mentally, and emotionally with the fabric of existence. We are as a result the cause of our existence, which is why I call this sketch "The Eternal Man Woman and Child". The self perpetuating nature of all things is both reflected in us and a reflection of us. We are the eternal.

He's not heavy
I've lost 2 little brothers in my life to tragedy.
One to suicide and the other to mental illness.
Neither was actually my paternal brother, but I
was still their big brother.
I've been carrying this drawing around for a long
time looking for the opportunity to make it into
a painting.

This image is in no way supposed to glorify violence, nor justify the existence of it. One element of this image is the thought that the possibility of violence was always a consideration growing up on the south side of Chicago. Funny, there are no gun manufacturing companies on Chicago's south side, yet our neighborhoods are full of them.
This is an image for the release of my brother A. Jihad's book "The Immortal Birth". The original concept was not mine, but I did update it from an old drawing that some person did for a t-shirt design. The guy holding the bag originally had a bag full of drugs, but A. Jihad thought it would be more relevant with the books. It turned out nicely so I think people will like it.
This sketch is for a painting of a modern family going in the direction that makes them most happy. It just so happens that the majority of people are going in the opposite direction. The people in the background will be a dull gray base with the family drawing the eye with colors that inspire an awareness of the beauty that is possible within even the individual that goes there own way.

As an artist I see the task at hand that is most pressing and urgent in it's need to be addressed to be the necessity for unflinching self evaluation. The evaluation of what we as a species consider a highly intelligent civilization to be. If the truth is the light by which we dispell the dark abyss of ignorance, then why is it that truth is even today a word up for so much debate?
